Represent source-water variability
Collect normal and difficult raw-water conditions rather than relying on one average sample. Record turbidity, temperature, pH, alkalinity, conductivity, organic indicators, algae where relevant and the current coagulant program.
Cold water, low turbidity and storm events can require different mixing or polymer conditions.
Optimize the complete treatment train
Screen primary coagulant first, then compare polymer type, dose, addition delay and flocculation energy. Measure settled-water turbidity, particle carryover, floc strength and filter loading.
Allow each change to reach the plant sampling point before judging it, and keep stop criteria for deterioration.
Write seasonal operating windows
Record accepted combinations of source-water condition, coagulant dose, polymer code, active dose and mixing settings. Use trend data to trigger a focused jar test when the source leaves that window.
