Separate water clarification from residuals handling
The polymer that supports raw-water clarification is not automatically the best conditioner for settled treatment residuals. Metal-hydroxide floc, captured organics and recycled wash water create a different solids surface and equipment duty.
Treat residuals thickening or dewatering as its own charge and dose screen.
Measure the solids endpoint
Compare drainage, filtrate turbidity, cake release, captured solids, torque or pressure and active dose. A rapid initial release can still produce weak capture or difficult cake handling.
Apply realistic shear after conditioning and repeat the leading condition on representative residuals from different operating periods.
Protect product identity
Retain the selected product code, charge range, active content, lot, preparation method and equipment setting. Keep residuals-duty material segregated from any product approved for direct drinking-water addition unless the exact regulatory basis is documented.
Specify package, storage, transfer and receiving checks with the process acceptance record.
